About Debra Cash
Debra Cash is this year’s Scholar in Residence at the Bates Dance Festival. During the year, she delivers pre-concert talks and writes program notes for a number of regional arts presenters including World Music/CRASHarts and Wesleyan University. Over the years she has consulted to the National Endowment for the Arts and New England Foundation for the Arts many times, documenting national dance-related projects and serving as a site visitor. Debra was a dance critic for the Boston Globe for 17 years and for WBUR Online Arts, a project of National Public Radio, for five. She continues to freelance for outlets including the Boston Phoenix and Ballet Review. She moved to the Boston area in 1974 where she still lives, with her lovely spouse, a former puppeteer and musician, and their goofball of a dog.
